About Mayur Virarkar MD

I am a Board-Certified radiologist and an Assistant Professor in the Abdominal and General Body Imaging Division at the Department of Radiology, University of Florida College of Medicine, in Jacksonville. My professional journey is deeply rooted in a fervent interest in significantly impacting cancer research. My research explores the field of oncological imaging, encompassing conventional imaging modalities such as Ultrasound and Computerized Tomography (CT), as well as advanced technologies like Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography (PET/CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Moreover, my endeavors also extend to state-of-the-art imaging modalities, namely Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET/MRI) and Photoacoustic Imaging (PAI). Pursuing excellence within my research programs, I am committed to amplifying the diagnostic capabilities of various imaging modalities. Furthermore, I am deeply invested in developing non-invasive molecular imaging techniques to facilitate early cancer diagnosis, potentially augmenting patient prognosis and therapeutic avenues.
