About Mayur Virarkar MD

I am an academic radiologist and physician executive, serving as Clinical Associate Professor, Chief of the Division of Abdominal Imaging, and Director of Quality and Research in the Department of Radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville. I am ABR-certified in Diagnostic Radiology with a CAQ in Neuroradiology, with fellowship training in abdominal imaging, thoracic imaging, and neuroradiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center and UTHealth Houston. I hold an Executive MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management (2026).

My work sits at the intersection of clinical excellence, quality improvement, imaging informatics, AI-enabled workflows, and healthcare leadership. I am a Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP), a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB).

At the national level, I serve as Co-Chair and Director of Research for the Neuroendocrine Neoplasms Disease-Focused Panel of the Society of Abdominal Radiology, on ACR Appropriateness Criteria expert panels, and as Guest Editor for leading radiology journals. My scholarly work spans 100+ PubMed-indexed publications with 1,500+ citations across oncologic imaging, PET/MRI, radiomics, AI integration, and quality improvement.

I am particularly interested in roles and collaborations that advance precision imaging, clinical AI adoption, multidisciplinary care, and scalable quality frameworks across academic health systems. I value partnerships that bridge medicine, technology, and leadership to improve outcomes for patients and organizations alike.
